Melbourne-based quintet Future Static have announced their debut album, Liminality , for release on November 24th via Wild Thing Records.
To celebrate the new release, the group launched the single “Roach Queen,” along with a music video that you can watch at the end of this article. The track follows their cover of “Gasolina ,” the 2004 global reggaeton hit by Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee.
The music video for “Roach Queen,” filmed and directed by Colin Jeffs ( Make Them Suffer, Alpha Wolf ), is linked to the story that vocalist Amariah portrays lyrically. She explains: “The name ‘Roach Queen’ seemed fitting. It came about instantly, along with the lyrics, as the song has connotations of a developed independence and strength that resulted from this experience.”
Amariah continues: “Colin nailed the execution, using the aesthetics of horror and the authoritarian figure of the 'Queen' as a representation of overcoming personal demons and traumas.”
Liminality will be a fusion of metalcore, progressive metal, alternative rock, and pop. Speaking about the album, Amariah comments: “Everything on this album came from the heart and soul of the band. The best way to describe it? It’s the physical representation of friendship, teamwork, and our unconditional love for music.”
The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Christopher Vernon ( Windwaker , The Beautiful Monument) . The artwork was designed by guitarist Jack Smith.
